Tink, I've read this a long long time ago. That all are true and make so much sense. The one about walking around the block with the father quickly brought back memories of my dad and I walking to town on Saturday to get the car. Mom would drive it to work (yes we only had one) so we would walk up to get it and then pick her up later.
Anyway...two things I always remember about those walks. Dad said a lady should never walk and chew gum...it just wasn't attractive and also...he always made me walk next to the yards on the sidewalk and he walked closer to the street. It was to keep their companion safe. Just a sign of the times, but those two things I've never forgotten.
