We went to a skeet shooting tourney for a while today. It was terribly hot so we only stayed long enough to see our 12 year old granddaughter win second place in her division - not bad since she was the only GIRL!
Last year she won it, so I guess those boys "practiced up" this past year!!! Actually, she just got a new gun yesterday so I'm blaming her second place position on not being used to it!
I realize that some of you are aghast that she would shoot and own a gun - but we are a farm family (even though we live in town now) and almost everyone hunts. When I was growing up my parents/grandparents hunted to put food on the table. We grew or hunted almost everything we ate. Even now, we eat everything that is killed, no one hunts just for the sport. My freezer is full of venison (and fish because we all fish too) - it is much healthier than beef - very low fat.
Anyway, that's how I spent part of my Saturday!
