I know what you're saying Gina. I remember we took the first graders on a field trip to Lafayette to see a kids play. A fellow driver and myself went to a little diner to eat breakfast and they had a little TV on. We couldn't hear or understand what they were saying so we asked the waitress. She told us what had happened and we went back to our buses to listen to the radio. I was so frightened, because I was so far away from Ricky. Within 15 minutes or so, the kids were coming back to the buses. Teachers were told what had happened and decided it best to get back to school.
I spent the rest of the day in the Elementary Library watching the news until time to take the kids back home. So many parents came and took their kids home that day..everyone was so frightened.
I'll never ever forget that day or the feelings I had. What a very sad day in our history.
