Sounds like my husband's family. They were like this when he was alive. His brother was the "chosen" one and my husband did all the work. He got up at 4:00 every morning, checked everything on the farm including his parents, went to work at the DOT by 7:00 each morning and worked 12 hours. He did everything in reverse every evening and I was lucky if he got home before 9:00. HIs brother did NOTHING. My husband literally worked himself to death. Sorry, I am very bitter.

I sincerely hope the bitterness fades and you can open yourself up to the new life you have now. I can't remember who said it...but the saying is..."you can only be happy, if you set your mind to be." Hopefully, since ties have been cut to the in-laws, you can move on to a positive, bright future.
