Why is there always one?!?
I've had many jobs I truly loved over the years. I've belonged to clubs and organizations, even taken classes with like-minded people who for the most part, I learned to know and enjoy. Yet it seems that there's always... or maybe I should say there's usually one person in the group who just refuses to play nice. One who makes the others uncomfortable and unhappy just because they can. Who acts as if the others are beneath them and merely tolerated out of necessity. The ones who, to hear them tell it, are smarter, and more capable, more ethical, more successful, better looking, and so far superior that they're always misjudged and set apart.
So us average joes/janes can't possibly meaasure up! Do you have one in your workplace? In your family? In your neighborhood? What if anything do you do to try to get along with them?

When I worked at a place called Val Discount, I had a boss like that and I quit. Before I left, I told him that I didn't deserve to be treated like that and would not tolerate it. If and when he realised that he was only a legend in HIS mind, would I even contemplate returning. Then I walked out the door. He was fired shortly afterwards and I returned to my old position.
