Obama Made It!!!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! He finally got enought points to claim the nomination!!! His speech tonight was soooo Presidential. I so hope he can continue on to Washington!!!

My condolences to the Hillary camp. I sincerely hope that they can unite and that she will be VP. This is the best outcome for the country, because I'm not sure what will happen if she is not the candidate for VP.

Sorry, McCain folks. He's a great man, and I agree with a lot of his politics, but not enough to believe that he is the best one for the job.

Nothing personal here, please do not take offense at this thread. I just had to celebrate with my friends whether they totally agree with me or not!!!

Peace to you all!!!!!

I was disappointed that Hillary did not win. I'm not sure who I will vote for now. I think if Hillary is on the ticket I will vote that way, if not, I'm leaning towards McCain.

I am so happy. Obama's speech last night was amazing! He has such a wonderful dream for our country. It makes me so hopeful!

I agree, Marilyn. He and Hillary should run as a team. I hope the they do because they will win.

To all my McCain friends - Don't take offense please. I think McCain is a wonderful man, and a good man. I just want the war to be over, and some changes made
in certain areas.

I have never seen a primary with three candidates who are so exceptional!

I have to agree with you! There have been a lot of things come out about Obama recently that really worries me... I am NOT as happy about this outcome as some here. I am a Mccain supporter and really hope and pray that he will be out next President!

My friends and I were ecstatic last night when they finally called Obama the presumptive nominee! You would've thought we'd won the lottery. lol! The four of us have followed this election since before it even began.

On to November!

As the mother of an almost 18 year old boy who would love nothing more than to join the marines after graduation.....anyone willing to end this war has my vote! I don't agree with everything Obama says, but I doubt there is a candidate alive that I'd agree with everything they said! So, Obama has my vote!

What a beautiful win! Well, we are not all they way there...yet! Obama is brilliant (not perfect) and is going to be the refreshing new start that American needs.

Isn't it nice that we can have this discussion in a civil manner. We all want the best for our families and our countries. None of us know for sure who is the best candidate to accomplish that, if any of our choices are. We make our decisions hopefully based on the information that we have available.

Personally, I just do not know if we can stand 4 more years of what we've had. We are spending too much money and too many lives on this war that IMO and Obama's we should never have started. We need to fight terrorism, no doubt, just don't think we are fighting on the right front in the right country.

There are too many big businessmen and Saud's influencing our country's agenda. The Saud's are not our friends. Most of the 911 attackers were from Saudia Arabia as is Osama ben Laden. We need to wake up and end our dependance of foreign oil as soon as possible. We need to bring jobs back to America. We need change, and I think that Obama is offering the right change for these particular topics.

I do not agree with everything that he says, but I believe out of our choices, he is the best one. He's young and it would have been better for him to run a little later with more experience, but the times dictated that the time for him is now rather than later. So, we'll see. At least he brings a little youthful enthusiasm and optimism to the picture.

Marilyn i agree with you about the current situation, and definitely about the candidates... we don't know who's best, that's true...
but as a jewish woman, it worries me that his pastor had such horrible things to say about israel and let's not forget the US... while Obama may or may not share those views it definitely says something for either his views or his judgment that he stayed at a church which preached such hatred about our country for 20 YEARS! i highly doubt rev. wright developed his views solely for the campaign... they weren't developed overnight, and that scares me about Obama...

i've been through the charismatic speakers that talk about change and whatnot... and it turned out badly, that's why i'm so weary about voting for him... not to compare him with anyone else, because as you said, we just don't know, and i truly hope that if he wins, the things turn out for the better...
[ETA: I moved almost 8 years ago here, from Venezuela, before it turned out the way that it did...not to say that he is like Chavez at all...but words are just words and i haven't heard anything other than a catchy slogan... (please feel free to refute that... let me know what he stands for better, etc) ]

I don't think that any candidate has captured my attention or my vote... i was hoping for hillary... but, sadly she didn't win... i'm really confused as who to vote for, we definitely need change... but i don't know who'll be able to deliver...

Nicole...no one knows what any of the candidates really stand for unless they know them personally and have known them a long time. They all say what you want to hear to try and get elected.

Obama won't be able to end the war 'just like that', no candidate can, no matter what they promise. I would be afraid of the catastrophic events that could happen if we were to 'just pull out.' I want our soldiers home too, but we need to bring them home...for good.

We have to go by our gut feeling and from our own research....it's really all we have, because we can't believe every thing we read or hear. Even when they talk about the voting that each candidate did for certain laws..etc...there are reasons...maybe there was more good than bad in the bill that was being voted on, but the candidates pick out the one thing or hot topic that they hope will screw their opponents chances. So before believing these accusations...check out the whole bill first. This was just an example.

It's a lot of work figuring out the best person for the job and if one does it by just reading the newspaper or listening to the ads on TV then they won't be able to make an intelligent vote. This goes for both sides.

This is going to be one of the most 'take sides' elections with more arguements between friends, family members and strangers AND I think have more people voting than in many previous elections. I for one, wish it was over with.

Nicole,

I think there are several pieces of "Obama Baggage" that need clarification.

Here's a quote from the following interesting article about all of these issues from the Washington Post.

" Asked by moderator Tim Russert what he could do to reassure Jewish Americans, Obama cited his belief that Israel's security is "sacrosanct." He also said he has strong support in the Jewish community because of his opposition to anti-Semitism and his efforts to rebuild the relationship between Jews and African Americans."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...T2008022703658

This may not change your mind, but it is interesting and informative.

Hillary, John, and Barack were on a plane. Barack said, "I could throw a $1000 bill out and make somebody happy." Hillary said, "Hey, I could throw ten $100 bills out and make ten people happy." John said, "Well, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out and make one hundred people happy." The pilot looks at the co-pilot and said, "I could throw those three out and make 156 million people happy."

I'm voting for that pilot!
