Yes, the hot tub is kind of off the kitchen! Behind the kitchen is the breakfast nook, and then there's the addition to the house straight behind. The doors to the deck are there and then the hot tub with a bathroom right beside (which I didn't take pictures of)

It was moved into town in 1997 from farmland. These houses were ordered from the Eaton's catalogue and delivered by train! You would get all the wood, nails, windows, doors, hinges, etc to build the whole place! That is just how the prairie farmers shopped There are not many Eaton's houses still standing so we're living in a peice of history here! We were thinking of looking into having it certified as a historic property but I don't know if we can with the new basement and back addition and other changes. There's a certain amount of original stuff that needs to be in the house, and pretty strict guidelines about what you can change and what you can't. But we know it's an Eaton's house and that's enough for us right now There is a man who wrote a book on Eaton's and other mail-order houses and he is willing to send copies of blueprints and things to people who own these houses. And he conveniently lives only 20 minutes away I would like to contact him and maybe even have him out to see if he can recognize which model this one is.

Congratulations Lindsey! Your house is beautiful and has so much charm and character. I didn't know that you moved from your condo, as I have not been on here much. When did you move? btw how is Layla feeling?

Hi Gina! It's good to see you again!

We moved last April. It was kind of on a whim and I felt like I was cheating on my condo lol! I still miss it sometimes. I was just bored and searching online one day in about February and found this house listed and told Scott it was my dream house. I did that a lot, but he would just brush it off... but this time he said "We could probably afford that" So we went to the bank to find out about financing, and we could do it!

We got their price down a lot, struck a deal, put my condo up for sale and we got a full price offer on the first day it was listed! So it was kind of like fate But like I said, I still miss the condo sometimes because we put so much work into it, and my family helped out a lot for us and then we just turned around and sold it. It was unexpected. I am in love with our house now though, and I love our new small town and I can't wait to get married and raise a whole bunch of little children there We still work in the city but it's only a 20 minute drive and it's a nice peaceful drive, compared to the same amount of time driving across the city in traffic.

Layla is doing really well! She had another setback with a bulging disc in her neck back in November, but we caught it early and she has recovered fully from medication and crate rest. Her crate rest just ended this past Tuesday

That is amazing! How wonderful to own a piece of frontier history!

I know! I've always wanted an old character home but this one is way more than I ever expected!

Your story about how you dream about your house reminded me of mine. Of course my situation was different. I was living in a one bedroom apt as a single mom with 3 kids. My poor boys didn't have enough room to play so I just one day told myself I want a house. Six months later I moved in to my little house. I didn't think about it twice just jump to it.
I think you two are doing a great job. Can't wait to see it all finished. And when are you two exactly planning on getting started with babies

Haha you'll have to ask Scott when he's planning on buying a ring before I answer that question! I'd like to be married for at least a year before starting a family. He has pulled me into a few jewelry stores lately so we'll see
