I absolutley love real trees...O the smell!! I just love it...but, we have a woodstove insert in our fireplace in the living room which, is where our tree goes so....a real tree isn't an option for us...it would dry out to quick....I use an artificial tree and burn a christmas wreath yankee candle...people think I have a real tree because of the smell....

We always have a real tree. My husband has wanted an artificial one for years. He wants to decorate it and after Christmas put a big bag over it decorations & all and put it in a walk-in section of our attic until the next year. He grew up with artificial. I grew up with real.
Last year, I was finally at the point having decorated trees for so many years now, that his idea was sounding like it might just be the way to go. So we mentioned it to our daughters, and you should have heard them. It just would not the Christmas without a real tree. Our youngest was especially adamont about it, so we put up a real tree, again & will this year, I'm sure. I have a very long funnel with a long dip stick that is hidden in the back of the tree to monitor and add water without crawling up under it (bought it at the big tent they setup to sell trees each year). I also have a recipe for a mixture of chemicals that would keep the tree alive longer, but cannot use it due to the furkids. Sometimes they get under there for a drink. We use the cooler twinkle lights and are very careful to turn them off at bedtime and whenever we are away.

When we have a tree, it's real.
I just got my tree today I am worried it will dry out lol, but the boys said that they had just gotten the trees that morning (which was true, because they had actually just set up that morning, I know because it's like a block away from my house) and they did the cutting off the bottom piece so it would last longer idk how else to make it last longer and the holder is set up so the dogs can't drink from it, luckily!! I'm worried about my yorkie eatin ghte pine needles though... do you think she will? I love how they smell! but if I could find a really amazing fake tree in the future, I would buy it and just get the sprays that make it smell fun

Decorating is my FAVORITE thing as far a Christmas goes...I have a fake tree because it takes me a long time to get it right and it is up all month...I wish live trees lasted longer...

This is the first year we have had a real tree. I don't think I could ever put up a fake tree again. THe smell is unreal. I LOVE the smell of pine! We just got it yesterday.. So far so good! We bought a Fraser Fir and it is nice and full! The nursery said that as long as we keep it watered then it should last for at least a month. They also put a fresh cut on it to help it soak up the water.
