We don't exactly trust our local vet... she's kind of the dumbest vet I've ever known
She does do boarding for $25 per day, and I know she might be good at expressing Layla every day, but I know Layla would not be happy there. Our friends took their dog there for a week, and she came home extremely sick. The vet told them she had giardia and gave them tons of expensive medicine (she didn't have giardia). We only go to her now for rabies shots. For anything medical with any of our dogs, we take them to the college of veterinary medicine in the city. They have the best of the best specialists for everything there. Unfortunately, they don't do boarding, unless it's medically necessary for your animal to be there! Layla loves staying there (she has several times for medical reasons). We are taking Layla to the kennel again tomorrow. I really wanted to take her for the rest of the week but Scott just doesn't want to "waste" the money

Lindsey, why dont you call the college, explain that you are concerned leaving Layla etc, maybe.....just maybe, they can help you, after all she does have special needs, so maybe they will understand - not sure of cost implications for you though.

We have tried! Our friend even works there and asked around if any of the vet students would watch her for us. But nope!!!

Layla did very well
I was worried the entire time, of course, but she was happy when we picked her up and she doesn't seem to have any bladder issues. She has been one tired dog though!!! I think there was a lot more noise and commotion than she is used to!

I'm glad to hear that all went well. I know that it's a worry to leave mine and mine don't have the problems that Layla has. You're a good mommy!
So how did the trip go otherwise? How are you feeling?

The trip was pretty good! I am glad to be home and not flying for a while now lol. I got so uncomfortable on the flights and just wanted to be able to stretch out!
I had some issues with my self esteem because I was SO excited to show off my cute baby bump on the beach in the two new bathing suits I bought, but after a few days I was sick of all the "Are you sure there's only one in there?" or "Wow, you are big!!!" comments It really put a damper on things. I love my bump and I hate that people were making me feel ashamed of it. I loved the dress I wore to the wedding, until my mom said "Oh I like that, it makes you look VERY pregnant!" and then my cousin chimed in "Yeah, it looks like you're hiding your gift under the dress!" .... That cousin is a nurse in labour and delivery, and as we were sitting down to eat that night, we were making small talk. She asked if I had any swelling and I said no, I've been lucky so far, but it will probably come later. She said "Yeah, and you are already looking really big! I mean, you look at LEAST 7 or 8 months pregnant already!!!" And I was so shocked all I could say was "What?? Really???" She should know, she sees pregnant ladies every day! Her hand flew to her mouth and she said "Oh, you didn't already know that??? I'm sorry!" and it made me cry I played it off as my contacts bothering me and I hope my family believed it (Scott did), but I was fighting tears through the whole meal when I just wanted to be there to be happy for my brother on his wedding day. It really hurt me though. Who says something like that? For the record, I don't think I am that large at all.The wedding went really well and my sister in law was actually very nice to Scott and I, and I am really happy for them. It poured that day and they had to move the wedding from the beach to a little hut behind the beach, but it was still beautiful. Scott and I did an excursion to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. It was a 14 hour long day and my body paid for it for about two days afterwards. I was SO sore! Thank goodness we had a jacuzzi tub in our room! On my last day there, I got a bad sunburn on the beach (it looks like I'm wearing a white bathing suit under all my clothes now lol!) and I got stung by a bee or something on my thigh. I was ready to come home!
