My Mom is white and my Dad is very gray....like a steel color...my brother is totally gray...he is 47...I am 49...I have ALOT of gray....I am not totally gray though...I believe if I let it grow out I would probably be 50%...maybe more...I know I am very gray around my temples...However...I will NEVER know how gray I really am...My daughter is a hairdresser so I get my hair colored every 4 to 5 weeks...I will probably never let myself go natural..It just makes me feel old...and I'm not!
I am naturally a very dark brown but, as you get older you should go lighter...I wear my hair past my shoulders...My daughter just put in a new color...golden brown and then put in some lowlights...I LOVE it!! In the summer I have blonde highlights put in...I never know what color I am going to walk out of the salon with!! Believe me...I have walked away with some pretty interesting colors!! LOL...If you can't experiment on Mom you can you experiment on!! LOL!

My Dads side of the family grays very young, so many in my family are gray erly. My oldest daughter first found gray hair at age 15. She's now 33 and has stripes of silver in her dark auburn hair... like skunk stripes.
I finally gave in and started coloring my hair less than a year ago. It just makes me look too old. I am hoping that I get the silver like my Dad had rather than the ugly splotchy gray/brown mess my grandma had. Right now it seems to be heading silver, but I am 52.

My Dad was totally gray at 30 but my Mother is 71 and has just in the past few years turned completely gray. Both my sisters would have white hair if they didn't color it (like Daddy) but I have a silver streak that starts at the left temple and goes across the top of my head like Mama. My younger sister let her gray grow out a few years ago and kept it that way for about 3 years. I can't do it. Gotta keep 'em covered up.

My grandmother just turned 78 last month. I have yet to see her with white or silver hair! She ALWAYS has it colored. I am sure that I will also be coloring ! I just hate the thought of my hair turning. My husband has true salt and pepper hair. he has been that way since he was about 31. His chest hair is just now starting to catch up. LOLIt doesn't bother him. I think that is normal tho. Women tend to spaz about it more than men.
