That is just loverly
 I still have some dried flowers my son done at school when he was five now 18, the children grew the flowers in the school garden and then dried them for a present at christmas. I will take the idea of the ribbon and measure my grandaughter we used to mark the door frame but over the years it wears or gets painted.
