Thanks Tink! That's exactly what I meant. The gov't is never going to give you anything for nothing. I may need that money more next year than I do this year so I'll just put it in the savings. I hate the way they want to screw with our lives.

So this money is part of our 2008 refunds? I suppose if you owe, you have to give this money back too?

That sucks!!!

I'm still going to end up paying off something. At least I'll save on interest.

My husband says not. Something about they usually give a tax break every year & next year we won't get one, we're getting the money we would've saved on the tax break next year right now. I don't really understand it, but you definitely won't have to pay any extra next year because of this check, I did get that at least.

Right ponyup!
IF you don't have that much coming next year you still don't have to pay this rebate back. However if you have more than this amount coming back, they will deduct this off from it.

I'm so glad you can explain things so well Tink. I always know what I mean in my head, but to get it out is a totally different story. You always explain things so elequently.

Thanks Janet, I got a lot of practice at explaining things in terms people could actually understand when I was a Realtor and insurance agent. Usually the concept itself isn't all that difficult, but the terms used within the industry sure can be! I never saw any reason to follow that practice... I prefer people know what's going on and make up their own mind based on simple fact.

So why are they bothering? I would assume they're saying that it's to get more money flowing, but it certainly is a silly idea if we have to lose it next year.

This is why having politicians running the country was never a good idea!
You need a bunch of women to sit down over coffee or tea with a list and we can solve many of these problems. After all, we can raise teenagers and live to talk about it!

Judy, I "think" this is more to make the republicans look better than any other reason. Once the elections are over, I'm guessing there will be a democrat in the white house, and if the economy is looking down, they will be shoving it in the faces of the republicans for the whole term. So by giving this little illusion of prosperity before they switch over, it will simply look better on the books. And then next year when everyone gets less of a refund it will be noted that there were democrats in power when it happened.

It's all political game playing.

Hi Tink,

You're on too I see. It's you, me and two spider aliens.

I think you're absolutely right. We can all be mad at Hillary or Barak for this. Do you really think we'll have a Democrat this time? I'm not sure what the more conservative population is up to these days on the issues.

I agree with you about McCain looking like a dead fish. That's a great description of him. His wife is some blond classy hottie! He married arm candy.

I agree totally!!!!!! Have you noticed, too, they are raising national security concerns again. They want us to be afraid again going into the election.
