Suzi! I've changed my mind re: Labradors

I've never seen/heard of the silver labs before. I would open the link but my stupid computer at home is s.............o.....................s............. ......l......................o.................... ....................w!!! So I'll open the links at work in the morning to look at them. Are they on the "rare" side? By that I mean, is it a "guarantee" to get silver or "luck of the litter"? If it's on the rare side, not sure if any of the guys I know here in town has a female that will throw a silver....but I can ask If they don't have a female that has ever had one, they might know someone who does. Like I said before, when you're ready, I'll do all I can to help you find that special, unique baby You're a lot like me - wanting what no one else has, being different!!

It seems that the people who breed silver labs ONLY breed silver ones. The silver labs are born silver so they know for sure that it will be silver/stay silver/guarantee that it'll be silver. I posted a thread on labradortalk about the silver labradors and the 2 people who posted a reply seem to think that a silver lab is a cross between a lab and a weimeraner (maybe not directly, but at least somewhere in the lineage there is a weimeraner), and thus not a true labrador, even though they can be registered with the AKC and the sites that sell the silvers guarantee that they are 100% lab. So, who knows! All I know is that they are GoRgEoUs and I would love to have one! But, I guess the people on labradortalk feel the way about the silver labradors as we yorkie lovers feel about the Chocolate yorkies or red legged yorkies....some people LOVE them, but they are not bred for the betterment of the breed, you know? Lots of controversery about them in the labrador community. When the time comes for me to get a labrador, I will talk to the breeders I found on the Internet who breed them and see what they have to say and then decide for myself whether I want one or not. But definately look at that website! I think they are GORGEOUS!! That website is a breeder in Texas. Tell me what you think after you look at it.

I defintely will look tomorrow And I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have some Weimeraner in them somewhere back in time - those dogs are gorgeous too! Texas, huh? Well, you know you have to pretty much drive through my neck of the woods headed that way (unless they are in south TX) so you will have to stop on your way out and we'll have lunch and you'll have to stop on your way back so I can see the new baby - provided that's the direction you head in your lab search

That would be SOOOO Much fun! We would HAVE to get together so you could see the pretty little silver labrador! And of course you would have to meet Hootie & Hobbs. hehehehe As I'm talking about the silver labs, I'm getting the evil eye from hubby. He's so funny. They cost $1000 and hubby says we aren't paying that much for a lab. I know that is a lot for a labrador, but I don't see why it is ok to pay that much for a yorkie, but not okay to pay that much for a labrador! Plus, you are going to have to pay a little more to get something different. I LOVE LOVE LOVE labs, but I am just on a mission to get one that is different. You know how I feel.

hi.... WOW, I looked at this site, they are beautiful! I have a Yellow, she is the MOST incredible dog in the world....
If it were me, I would adopt a baby lab of a "regular" color.. there are so many babies out there because no one wants to adopt a "Big" dog.....

Rebecca, i had a look on a dutch lab forum to see if they know anything about silver labs, i read that they are unheard of in this country, and are affraid that someone will see "bucks" in this color and start breeding a new trend.
