Yikes, that must be tough! I bet he eats a lot more daily than you do though so maybe it won't be as hard of an adjustment as it seems right now. Good luck! I'm sure you'll be losing weight in no time!

Good luck Marilyn! 18 pts is not bad, you actually get enough in one day, plus you can save your pts for the weekend. It has been awhile! but I do remember. lol

Okay, it wasn't so bad. I had:

Small bowl of Cheerio's with fat free milk for breakfast = 3 pts.
Late lunch (busy day on the road) Fruit & Yogurt Parfet (sp?) from McDonalds = 3 pts.
Chili's Guiltless Grill Chicken Sandwich with veggies and black beans = 10 pts.
Weight Watcher's Ice Cream Bar = 2 pts.

18 pts total. I got 3 dairy, milk, yogurt & ice cream, but was way short on the recommended servings of vegetables and water.

Will have to try harder tomorrow to get the balance right. However, tomorrow is another day on the road , which makes it difficult.

On the Flex Plan, I'm actually allowed 35 discrecionary points per week to use when I need to, if I need to. So far, I feel like 18 points may be enough after all.

I've got 28 points so it was actually a bit hard to eat all mine, I ended up 2 points short today. There's actually a whole lot you can eat that have no points. You can eat all the lettuce, okra, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, squash...etc etc that you want. If I hadn't gotten that soup too, my salad for lunch would have only been 1 point.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! An entire meal only 1 pt!!

And Weight Watchers has some really good snack stuff too. Mum mentioned the ice cream bars, they're only 2 points and oh so good!!!

Way to go!!!! I would probably do better if I just joined. When I first checked into it here in town, it had disbanded. Now they have started it up again. I may have to join...as I have fallen off the wagon AGAIN. I just hate paying to lose weight. I could use the money for so many other things.

Good Luck, Marilyn. I think that Weight Watchers is a very sensible way to diet, but I wish that you didn't have to pay to be a part of it too. It's always hard to be on a diet when you're not at home, but I know that a lot of places are moving toward having healthier food on their menu.

Weight Watchers actually has a book assigning points to restaurant food for you. Makes eating out so much easier. It's really not costing that much. We signed up for the 10 week program to start which costs $10.90 per week. Registration is free this month. They have a cheaper program, $9.22/month, but you have to give them your credit card number and it's automatically renewed month to month until you cancel. The automatic program gives you access to their internet tools also. Our plan does not. The way I look at it is that if it makes us healthier, it will save money in the long run.

So many people are having trouble with their knees for example. Knee problems are usually, but not always, directly related to your weight. It's a pounds per square inch thing. Think about it. Your cartlidge surface in your knees is probably around 6 square inches (just guessing here). If your body above your knees weighs 180 lbs, that's 30 lbs per square inch. If your upper body weighs 120 lbs, that would be 20 lbs per square inch. Over time that makes a big difference. Not to mention heart disease, cancer, diabetes, all are more likely if we are heavier. Plus quality of life. Even though I'm not a huge person, when I weigh less, I feel better and enjoy life more. We only get one life. May as well make it the best that we can.

I just hope WW works for us. It looks like a good program.

I did WW in college and lost 10 lbs and kept it off until after I got married. Now I've gained it all back. *sigh* I thought the least amount of points a person could have was 20????

Mine actually calculated out to be 16, but the quiz said if your score was below 18 to use 18.

I blew it today, kinda. Today is my birthday, and my family took me out to a very nice restaurant & I didn't eat the most healthy stuff (Fried catfish fillet with crawfish etouffee over it with steamed veggies and rice). Then when we got home, they had red devils food cake. I said I blew it, kinda, because we are allowed a discretionary 35 points per week above the 18 per day. I had not used any discretionary points, so I think with the 9 I still had left for today and the 35 extra available, I really did not blow it, just have to stay with the 18 the rest of the week.

That's what the flex points are for! You didn't blow it. I'm sure you'll be "good" the rest of the week. Good luck! I'm cheering you on!

I didn't see it on the Home page, Marilyn, I'm sorry. It's okay if you 'blew' it on your birthday...that is your day and you can do whatever you want. I think it's a law or something....LOL Hope you had a great day!
