It has been way above normal here, with daytime highs hovering around the freezing point, and then dropping below freezing overnight. It's really been beautiful! Unfortunately those kinds of temperatures cause black ice on the roads, and there have been tons of accidents. Yesterday on the freeway, a car lost control and jumped the median to hit oncoming traffic head-on... a 19 year old girl died instantly and a 30 year old man is still in critical condition. Traffic was backed up through the whole city

The ice is still melting here but we did have school. Paved roads are clear, but gravel roads are still icy and slick. It has gotten up to 40* the last couple days, but feels much colder because we've had some wind too.
They are calling for lots of rain this weekend, maybe even some thunder and lightning. I want spring and I want it now. My bus hardly looks yellow and my van is a dirt color instead of gray. No since washing them...I have quite a few gravel roads and they are wet and dirty.

The weather sure is weird... we had such warm temperatures until yesterday when a winter storm blew in. I wouldn't have left the house if it wasn't for Scott's Christmas party (a little late lol). We called a cab to be here to pick us up at 5:10, but it didn't show up until at least 5:45 because of the weather. On our way home after the party, there were cars stuck EVERYWHERE! City buses weren't even running today because they were getting stuck. Cars and even trucks have been getting stuck in the parking lot all day. The maintenance people haven't done a thing to plow out or snowblow the lot

When I got up this morning at 8:00 it was 48 degrees. It got up to 52 so I opened a few windows and let the house air out a bit. Feels so much better in here. Anyway....now it's 38 degrees. Wish the weather would make up it's mind.....and stay warmer!

I'm jealous!
My brother took 3 hours to shovel out his small driveway yesterday afternoon. Scott went out last night to shovel our cars out, and it took over an hour. This morning there was another few inches covering my car. Right behind my car to one side was a huge pile of snow, probably 5 feet high, so I had to maneuver around that and back through about 2 feet of snow all the way to the main path. I got stuck once, but got myself out of it. Most of the streets haven't been plowed yet, so it was a very slow and slippery drive to work. Thank goodness for winter tires! Cars and buses have gotten stuck on roads all over the city this morning ![]()
