I had to do mega internet research to figure out what might grow in that shady spot - I had no clue. It has dappled light till about noon, then it is in complete shade. I bet I have looked and read on the internet for several hours over the past month, trying to decide what to get.

I thought I wanted columbine, but then when I went to the nursery (a local nursery that has NEVER steered me wrong), they recommended ruellia and holly fern. I sure hope they live! If not, oh well, I'll just get some rocks and make a rock garden! LOL!

I'm going to get a pretty pot and set it on the flat rock you see in the picture. I'll probably plant annuals in the pot - maybe petunias, the nursery said they would bloom in shade - not in winter, of course. LOL!

Looks so pretty Gayle. A pretty pot with some colorful flowers will just make it look even prettier.

Love the corner Gayle, and something with just a little color will make it really stand out.

I plan to use a colorful pot like this one http://www.directfrommexico.com/ae2037.html I saw one like this about 18 inches tall at Lowes and I think I'll get it. That way, if there is too much shade to get the flowers to bloom, I'll still have some color! And I'll have color in winter too!

OMG Betsi! I worked so hard and sweat so much on that little corner! I can't imagine doing yardwork for a living. The humidity just about killed me. It only looks neat and tidy right now. LOL! I"m not very good at keeping things neat and tidy.

That is going to look really nice! I love the plants and the Mexican pot really brings pizazz (sp?) into it!
