Well my case was a little different.. It wasn't at school. This was at a private gym.. She is a competitve cheerleader. I didn't say to much to the coach becuase to be honest it made it worse on the kids. They usually take it out on the kids.. Sad but true! I went straight to the owner of the gym and complained. There were several moms that complained A LOT!

I would say that you should try and talked to the other moms and see if their girls are also having problems. The newbies I mean. If they are then you would have more of a case. If that didn't work then I would go to the school board!

I think your daughter is wise to think about quitting if things don't improve.Cheering should be fun! When she starts to complain about not wanting to go to practice then you will know that she has had enough. Kids either love or hate cheering! Emmie was ready to quit because of her coach and at the last min the coach decided to leave!

I can see the hard spot you are in... I know I hated to to see the way Emmie was treated. I do know talking to the coach will make things worse... You know come to think of it....I made a point of being at most all of the practices as did other moms... With us there the coach wasn't so eager to pick on the kids and be so mean. You know at times like this a small videao camera would come in REAL handy!! Try asking your daughter if it really bothers her. Also, is something that she can handle and deal with ?... TO be honest it is much harder on us. Good luck....

Thanks, Michelle. It's not possible for parents to attend the cheer practices because it's school policy. And I know what you mean that they take it out on the girls. She hasn't bothered my daughter too much as far as punishments go because I've already confronted her about punishments and told her if there was a problem again that we'd be talking.

As far as the other moms go, several of them are not happy either but they're afraid of causing trouble at the school or between the coach and their daughter. I think that at the end of the year when they renew the coach's contract that several of the moms will be at the school board meeting to make sure that she doesn't coach another year.

I'm hoping that things will settle down and it will get better. I keep thinking that once they can actually cheer in front of a crowd that my daughter will enjoy being in cheer, but it depends on what goes on and how she's treated.

We have a football game on Friday night so we'll see how things go. I'm hoping that I have a good report for you!!!!

Jaci on Friday Night!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that last night's cheer went pretty good. Jaci got to finally cheer like she should have with the rest of the group. They still had some organizational problems but they weren't caused by the coach. There's some problems within the cheer group that need to get worked out, but they don't involve my daughter. She had a few problems remembering how the cheers went but that's to be expected with a beginner.

She wanted to quit but I talked her into going this time, hoping that it would be something that she would enjoy and now she's talking about staying in as long as there aren't more problems with the coach.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that things went much better!!! I'm a happy Mom!!!

I'm glad things went well Diana! I'm really hope things work out for her and that this will be something she enjoys, but if the coach continues to be a problem, it might be best to find another activity she could do instead. Anyway, congrats!
