Did anyone watch the memorial service last night on The Animal Planet? I missed the first 15 minutes of it. What a wonderful service it was - such outpouring of love! I shed some tears and some laughs. Very touching and seemed to be "true" to Steve's life. The end of the service really sent home the message that he is gone - he'll be forever missed!

I went to the Animal Planet website to see if by any chance they were showing dates that they'll replay it. All they had was the time last night (9-10 CST) and then they replayed it at midnight - nothing else on there on when they may air it again.

For those that missed it, I'll try to fill you in on some of what happened. They had video clips from various US actors and Aussie actors with tributes to Steve (Russell Crowe's really got me). They had various people speak at the service and showed video clips of funny moments and not so funny moments in his life. Bindi got up and gave a brief speech about her dad and how he's her hero and taught her all about conservation - man, I almost didn't make it through her speech - she was so brave to get up in front of over 5000 people and say what she did! She WILL carry on his legacy. His dad spoke and the most touching part of his speech was where he said don't mourn for Steve, mourn for the animals who've lost the best mate they ever had. Terri did not speak but cameras did show her and baby Bob - you could really see the sorrow and sadness on her face - my heart just went out to her. At the end, and this is what got me, they sang a song (can't remember the name but it's an Aussie song - I think it was "True Blue") and workers from the zoo came down out of the stands with yellow flowers (sorry, can't remember what kind - hard to tell through tears). At the end of the song, they layed them on the ground in front of the croc pit arena and spelled out the word, "Crikey". Then Steve's "Croc Guard" came out, loaded up his truck with his croc gear (it took center stage during the service), and slowly drove it out of the arena, again to the song being sung, "True Blue". That's when it "hit" me that he's truly gone but what a legacy he's left behind and I have no doubt in my mind that Terri will help to see it's kept alive through his children.

Ah, I'm so upset I missed it! I am really still in shock about the death of Steve. He was such a good man, and left behind such young children. I just can't believe it's true. I'm glad to hear that his memorial service was a good representation of his life and who he was.

			RIP Steve...

I missed it also but I saw clips this am on Good Morning America. The daughter reading her letter was so sweet, it just broke my heart. The daughter, Bindy is having her own show in January. She will be swimming with the sting rays.

I watched it and was just mesmerized.

It was sad, yet a very fitting tribute to the way he lived and man he was. I too was amazed by how well his daughter did considering the situation and her young age. He will be sadly missed, but accomplished more in his short life than most of us do while living twice as long.
