I am here every day because it is too hot and humid to work outdoors. We have been having a lot of unexpected lightening and I am scared of it. When I was a teen ager, was ironing and a streak of lightening came in and knocked the iron out of my hand. MAD WE A BELIEVER!!!!!

Oh Donna, that had to have been so scary. Were you hurt in any way? It was in our paper that a teenage girl was closing a window because it was raining in and she got struct by lightening. She is fine except for some tinkling AND numbness in her arms, but with therapy, it should leave no lasting effects.

lightening is nothing to mess with! My brother had a cb in his room when i was little and he had this big antanna outside in the yard, just an old ugly looking thing, anyways lightening stuck it. My Dad said he didn't ground the antanna, well my girlfriend and i were playing in that room, i just remember a big boom !! We couldn't hear for a long time .. Thank God he always unpluged the back of the cb and stuck it in an old flower vase, i guess the lighting came into the house and the vase counter reacted the impact, but when the lightening went back out of the house where my brother drilled a hole for the connection to the antanna it blow a nice hole in the house! Lighting and thunder still scare the crap out of me.
After that happen, my mother took the cb out of his room!

Our home was struck by lightening when I was a little girl and again after Glen and I were married. I hate lightening especially when it's close. We had so many close hits in the old house because we sat right in the middle of a large field so the trees were the highest things around.

Janet, I read about the girl that you talked about. The lightening struck her while she was inside of the house closing a window. Scary.

We had lightening strike right outside our front door when I was about 5 or 6. I happened to be standing by the door at the time, and ended up with what looked like a sunburn on my back through the screen from it.

I'm still not smart enough to be scared of it. lol

Yes she was inside her house. I don't remember exactly where she lived, but that would have scared me to death.

About 15-20 years ago, a storm struck during the night. It must have been a Friday night because I was cleaning the next day and I ALWAYS cleaned on Saturday. When I pulled the nightstand out, the wall around the phone jack was all black and the little mini tape that was in the answering machine (we didn't have digital then) was on the floor. The wall could have very easily caught fire, but we didn't hear a thing, slept right through it. That was scary to think would COULD have happened.
