I caught the original Colombian version on spanish TV and I loved it. If the American version is half as good, it will be a hit!!

I watched most of it. I liked it. I think it's a little too much like the devil wears prada, but other than that it's good. I think the guy that's the boss is really hot. the first episode actually almost made me cry. It breaks my heart that people can be so cruel.

The original was actually made to make a statement on society. In Colombia, (the capital of plastic surgery and beauty pageants) people actually attach photos to their resumes when applying for jobs. The society is extremely superficial and only the "beautiful people" get the good jobs. The creators of the original "novela" wanted to make a statement about this by creating "Ugly Betty" who is actually pretty intelligent, articulate and extremely qualified, however because she is so "ugly" no one looks past her appearance. It was a huge hit in Latin America and I hope it does as well in America. I think its message is pretty universal and can be applied to this country too.
