Gayle, it is delicious. My grandmother made it back years ago, of course, she has long since passed. When I find one I will definitely post it!

Hmmm........nope, I can't think of ever having a recipe like that. Sorry. It does sound really good, especially with the caramel frosting!!!

Are you sure no one in your family has your grandmother's recipe. It would be really special if you could track down a copy. Never heard of it, but like the others, it sounds wonderful.

Mom thinks this is it. If any of you try it please let me know if you like it
![]() JAM CAKE 1 and 1/2 c. shortening 2 and 1/2 c. brown sugar 4 eggs 5 c. flour 2 c. seedless blackberry jam 1 and 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 tsp. soda (dissolved in buttermilk) 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. allspice Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs; beat. Add flour alternately with the buttermilk. Mix well. Bake at 325 for one hour or until done. CARAMEL FROSTING 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 cup margarine 1/4 c. milk 2 c. powdered sugar Combine brown sugar and margarine. Cook for 2 min. Add milk; let stand till lukewarm. Add powdered sugar; beat until smooth. Frost cakes. |

You can also add 1 c. each of walnuts and raisins, if you would like.
