Okie Dokie!
Jam Cake 1/2 cup shortening 1 cup brown sugar 3 eggs separated 1 & 3/4 cup of flour 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 cup blackberry jam 3 Tbs. milk 3/4 cup chopped raisins Cream shortening and sugar; add egg yolks. Beat until fluffy. Sift flour with spices. Add flour/spice mix to shortening/sugar mix, alternately with jam and milk; add raisins. Gently fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Place in angel food pan. Bake at 375 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

I bet it was really good! Thanks for reporting back to us. I may make it for some event, I sure don't want to have the whole cake in my house - I would eat the whole thing!!!

Gayle, Mom's was delicious, but I think I am going to use your recipe and her frosting, reason being, yours doesn't use plain flour. Mom's does. Sometimes I screw up with plain flour and soda/baking powder, I don't know why, usually my cakes fall. Anyways let me know how your turns out
